They had ice cold water, beer and snacks for the trip there and back. They had cold towels for us after our tour of the ruins. The vehicle was 1st class, clean and very comfortable. Our guide had exceptional knowledge, many charts and artifacts to show us on the way to the site. My husband, myself and our 2 boys (aged 16 and 19) took the Chichen Itza Private Tour with Cancun Adventure.net and it was AWESOME!! Everyone enjoyed the tour because our tour guide, Angel, was great. We learned a ton about the Mayan culture and about Chichen Itza. Angel was so informative during our 2 hour drive to Chichen Itza, and still gave us time to sleep before we arrived. We also loved swimming in the Cenote and, again, Angel gave us interesting facts and tidbits of information. All 4 of us LOVED this day - one of our best. I highly recommend doing the tour this way - privately - as we were on our own schedule and had our own driver and guide. Score:

The tour we had was fantastic. We had the 2 Victors, one was our guide and the other our driver. We could not have been more happy with the results. Victor, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. He really made the tour that much more exciting and eye-opening with his binder of pictures and facts. You could really tell he was proud of the information he gave us. We had them pick us up at 7am, they were on time and enthusiastic. I suggest doing the same as you will get to the site before the heat and the crowds. The whole day was awesome and if I had to book another tour with this company I would want the 2 Victors again. I googled online about Cancun Adventure. At first, I wasn't able to choose Grand at Moon Palace as the hotel for pickup. Karen from the customer support was able to create order for me, and waited me patiently to go through the process (I was working on my cell phone, so it was slow). Our guide is Alberto, and we learnt a lot of Maya culture and history from him. We are glad to have him as our guide; otherwise, the tour would be boring. Our Driver, Victor is excellent too. We booked this tour prior to our holiday to cancun through cancan discounts which is an American company and we are in UK. We initially choose private tour as wanted to visit Chichen Itza but have suffered with travel sickness as does my daughter so over the years struggled with tour bus journeys. Online booking was simple although had to re requested voucher as missed in junk email. Obviously once in Cancun we were nervous that something may go wrong with tour as holiday rep happily told us of disastrous privately booked tours. We were picked up on time in private mini van with driver and tour guide. We left at 0900 which was the latest time so we weren't rushed and enjoyed breakfast. Aware that visiting at mid day heat but it was manageable with sun cream and hats. The journey was around 2-3 hrs and we were offered regular places to stop along way for toilets and when my daughter began to feel unwell 15 mins away from Chichen Itza a stop was found. The tour guide was fantastic - providing facts and information along the way about Chichen Itza and mexico in general obviously has a true passion for his country. As adults we decided that this was the best trip of our holiday. Weather is hot and we brought hats in a shop prior to visit as panicking about mid day heat and not enjoying trip but would have been nice to be aware that hats can be purchased from market/local people outside of chicken Itza for quarter of the price. Our advice buy all gifts at chichen Itza, market type stalls happy to take money off and are cheaper then shops remember this is a poor country with people earning a livelihood so don't be unfair with prices. You can see the people hand making masks from wood. I did not feel harassed like the reviews from cancun market place so happy to look at stalls and ask questions. Guide happy to help us with prices. We all learnt so much which we would have missed if attended on own or with group. Stop for lunch and swim in cenote was ideal just to cool down. Food was Ok buffet style and drinks voucher included. Again guide gained all tickets necessary which took hassle out of our family adventure. On way back, the children pointed out local people selling fruit (we thought grapes) along road side and the driver and tour guide stopped and brought guava fruit for us which my son loved a hard shell with soft fruit inside - something which would never have tried. Downfall to trip, we cant remember guides name which is a real shame as he should be credited as it was he that made our tour special. We were not offered the added option which website mentions - something which we may or may not have done depending on journey back. Positive - when matching holiday company price this works out similar and you have added comfort of private transport and guide (We saw tour guide at Chichen Itza with 30 people following flag not everyone would hear all about the wonders of the place) All in all would give this tour 5 out of 5 Thank you so much - please use this feedback as required. I am bilingual but the rest of party was not, I loved that both Tacho and Alfonso could speak English and Spanish it made for a great experience for the non-Spanish speakers in the group. Although a little bit more expensive, I would highly recommend going the personal tour route you cannot put a price on the service we received. The individual attention and personalized service was fantastic. Seeing some of the folks no very happy on the bus tours reinforced that the private tour was the best option. Personally for me the tour was the highlight of my visit to Mexico, we got to see the impressive Mayan ruins, swim in a cenote, and made some new friends in Tacho and Alfonso. We decided to do a Private Tour to Chichen Itza because we didn't want to be in a large tour bus with 50 plus others for 15 hours. This was our best decision and we are so glad we spent the extra money on doing this. Our tour guide, Alex, was excellent. He had a ton of information and was very pleasant. If you have the opportunity to do a private tour of Chichen Itza and Ik Kil, do it! We were 2 families, total of 10 people. We were picked up from our hotel, we were able to stop for a quick breakfast pick up and snacks and off we went to Chichen Itza. Our tour guide, Daniel was awesome. His knowledge of the Mayan people and culture were impressive. He started the tour in our van (very nice Mercedes, with AC and plenty of room), he spoke to the children as well as the adults. He guided us though Chichen Itza and explained so much of the ruins, Mayan people and their culture. I left there understanding the ruin site and the Mayan culture with such of sense of awe. We then went to lunch at Ik Kil, being that we were in the private tour, we were able to spend extra time at lunch and the Cenote. Your time is much more scheduled if you are on a bus tour. One word of advice: Leave for your private tour as early as possible. We reached Chichen Itza at 10:30, there were no crowds. When we left after 12:00pm, the crowds coming in were massive and it was very hot when we left. I recommend the private tour highly. If you can ask for Daniel as a tour guide, do it! He is great!!! The private tour is the best way to see Chichen Itza. We were picked up on time at our hotel and beat the crowds by getting an early start. The 14 passenger van was spacious and comfortable for the four of us plus our driver and guide. Water and umbrellas (for shade) were offered. We did not have to stand in line to buy tickets at the entrance as this had already been taken care of. The lunch stop was convenient and while the food was not a gourmet experience, it was pleasant. Note that drinks and tips are extra for lunch and you will be expected to tip the guide. I would definitely recommend this tour. Score:
